Autumn as a season of changes in nature and in us

Autumn is a period of transition between the warm summer and cold winter, and this change affects not only nature but also our bodies and minds. Many people associate autumn with the beautiful golden colors of leaves, which change due to decreasing sunlight and cooler temperatures. Trees, which during the summer absorb sunlight through the chlorophyll in their leaves, begin to break down this green pigment, revealing other colors present in the leaves - yellow and orange carotenoids, as well as red and purple anthocyanins. This process creates the vibrant fall landscapes that so many love.

Another interesting fact is that, as temperatures drop, animals' behavior changes as well. Many animals, such as squirrels, begin to intensively search for and store food that they will need during the winter. Although we may not notice it, our bodies also undergo changes. Shorter days and less sunlight lead to a decrease in serotonin production, which can affect our mood and sense of well-being. At the same time, melatonin production increases, the hormone responsible for sleep, making us feel more tired and in need of rest.

Autumn is also a season of harvest. During this time, many fruits are gathered, such as apples, pears, pumpkins, and chestnuts. In many cultures, festivals are held to celebrate the end of agricultural work and the preparation for winter. Traditionally, this time also marks a period when people begin to spend more time indoors, enjoying warm drinks and foods that provide comfort, such as soups or mulled wine.

Thus, autumn is a time when nature transforms, and we prepare ourselves for the coming winter - both physically and emotionally.
